Increasing data allowances on mobile devices to support disadvantaged children
Dear Parents and Carers,
Yesterday the government announced a scheme that temporarily increases data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is so that children can access remote education whilst the school is partially closed and in school, face-face lessons are not running.
The school can request mobile data increases for children who:
However, to date, it is only available if your phone is on one of the following networks:
Although other providers may join the scheme at a later stage.
In order for the school to apply for this increased data, you will need to complete the attached form stating:
Obviously the school will hold all data securely and in line with GDPR guidelines.
Finally, if increasing mobile data isn’t a suitable option for you, the school can also request 4G wireless routers. Government guidance states that this may be an option for families if:
It is vitally important that your child’s education continues digitally whilst they are remote learning. The school will not be sending out any paper pack during this lockdown and it is your responsibility to ensure your child has access to their education. Obviously, the school will do everything it possibly can to support this and will be contacting those families who might be eligible to loan one of the limited government digital device as soon as possible – please be patient as we have to await their arrival and build them so that children are able to use them.

Dear Parents/Carers
It has come to our attention that some families do not have enough paper at home for their children to complete some of their remote learning tasks on. Therefore, we will be making school exercise books (1 per child) available for families to come in and collect.
The exercise books will be available for collection from the school office every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.00pm for the next two weeks. This will begin today, Wednesday 20th January 2021, at 9.30am.
To safeguard our staff and school community, we ask that: you only come on these days; only one family member attends; you wear a mask whilst in the school grounds; socially distance from others and wash your hands before and after your visit. Remember, hands, face & space.
Once again, I wanted to thank you for your continued support of your child’s remote learning, there has been some incredible work uploaded to Purple Mash. We appreciate that these are difficult times for us all, if you need any additional support, please do not hesitate to contact the school office or speak to the member of staff during your weekly phone calls.

KS2 Remote Learning Expectations
Dear Parents and Carers,
At the end of last week, the government changed its guidance on KS2’s remote learning expectations. From today, KS2 children will now receive 4 hours of online provision to complete each day (KS1 children will continue to have 3 hours of provision.)
If you are finding it difficult to complete any of the work set, please speak to a member of staff. All children will receive at least one weekly phone call from school to support home learning. Alternatively, you may request a phone call via email, Class Dojo or Purple Mash and we will endeavor to get back to you as soon as possible.

Remote Learning Expectations
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you are aware, the start of term tomorrow will not look quite as we had planned before breaking up for the Christmas holidays! The vast majority of our children will now be at home, completing their learning remotely via PurpleMash.
Unlike the previous lockdown, the government has increased its expectation on remote learning and now all children are expected to access/complete 3 hours of high quality, teaching and learning daily. The SASF staff have been working hard to ensure that your child’s lessons are ready for tomorrow and will support them to continue their learning journey.
At SASF, we always remind ourselves that children only get one chance at an education, therefore we do everything in our power to ensure every child has the best opportunities to learn and make progress – but we can’t do it without your support whilst in lockdown. We are expecting 100% of our pupils to complete the daily work set for them and will be contacting you if this is not happening to find out how we can assist you in your child’s learning.
We fully understand that completing remote learning with your child is not always the easiest of tasks, and therefore we have put together some advice to support you. We will also be in regular telephone contact to help however we can. The children are not on holiday from their education as of tomorrow, they are ‘back at school’, albeit from home.

* Each week a task/activities timetable will be completed by the class teacher and uploaded to PurpleMash and the school website (this will inform you which afternoon subject you are doing each day).
Please contact the school is you are experiencing any technical issues, which are preventing your child from completing their work online, as we should be able to support you to overcome these. Equally, normal absence reporting procedures are in place – there will be a member of the administration team in school every day to take your phone calls.
One again, we would like to thank you for your support and reiterate the importance of children continuing their education whilst remote learning. Remember, whilst their education is vitally important, so too is childrens’ well-being and mental health. Please ensure you are planning in rest/play times for them and ensure that they are safe whilst using the internet during their leisure time.

Critical Workers’ and Vulnerable Children’s Hub Provision
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you have stated that your child/ren required a place in the school’s hub provision, I am writing to inform you of the logistics.
The school gates will open between 9.00am for children to enter, like before they will immediately wash their hands and you will be required to wear a mask whilst in the school grounds.
The school kitchen will be open and providing hot meals for both pupils and staff. Again we must enforce that children are not to bring in their own food as we are trying to limited possible cross-contamination from home and school. KS2 parents, you will be expected to pay for these meals (unless entitles to benefits related free school meals).
The school day will end at 3:30pm – we ask that you are on time to collect your child/ren and inform the school office if someone else will be collecting them,
Whilst in the hub, your child will complete the remote learning set for them by their class teacher. In the afternoons, we will broaden their curriculum and plan additional exciting foundation subject activities such as: art, PE, music etc.

Partial School Closure
Dear Parents and Carers,
As I am sure you are aware, yesterday the government announced that primary schools on their Contingency Framework List would not be fully reopening in January, 2021. Regrettably, Brent is named on this list and therefore SASF will not be reopening on Tuesday 5th January, 2021 to the vast majority of our pupils.
That said, the school will be opened (9:00-3:30pm) for critical workers’ children, those deemed vulnerable and/or have an EHCP. If you believe your child/ren fall into one of these categories, it is vitally important that you inform the school as soon as possible (via the attached forms document), so we can prepare staff numbers and the kitchen.
As before, your child’s education will continue through our online learning platform Purple Mash and Microsoft 365. SASF staff will be working tirelessly to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to children’s learning journey, providing high quality work, feedback and weekly telephone contact. The government has stated that children are required to complete 3 hours learning every day and we will be sending out more information, later this week, about how you can support your child to complete this and the school’s expectations for remote learning. In addition to this, we will also be providing information on our Free School Meal (FSM) vouchers scheme for those eligible (those on benefits-based FSM) and how we can support families that do not have the digital technology required to complete online learning.
As yet, we do not know how long the school will be partially closed for, although it will certainly be until at least the 18th January. The government has stated it will review these closures on 13th January and therefore we hope to have more information for you then.
SASF staff are all very disappointed not to be seeing the children at the start of term and have asked that I send out their New Year’s best wishes to you all and pray that you are all keeping safe and well.
