Educational Trips and Visits
Educational Visits and School Trips
At our school, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Educational visits and school trips provide valuable opportunities for children to enrich their learning through first-hand experiences, bringing subjects to life and creating lasting memories. Throughout the year, pupils take part in a variety of carefully planned visits linked to the curriculum, including museums, historical sites, places of worship, theatres, farms, nature reserves and local community attractions. These experiences help develop children's knowledge, confidence, independence and social skills while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning. We are committed to ensuring that all visits are safe, inclusive and enjoyable, giving every child the opportunity to explore, discover and achieve their full potential.
Why Educational Visits Matter
Educational visits support children's academic, personal and social development by:
- Enhancing curriculum learning through real-life experiences.
- Developing confidence, independence and resilience.
- Encouraging teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Promoting cultural awareness and understanding of the wider world.
- Creating memorable experiences that inspire lifelong learning.
We aim to provide a wide range of engaging opportunities throughout each child's time at our school, helping them to develop knowledge, skills and experiences that will support them both in school and beyond.
"Learning comes alive when children experience it for themselves."
Year 6 Residential

One of the highlights of Year 6 is our annual residential trip, which takes place each year during May or June. This exciting experience provides children with the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop independence, build friendships and create lasting memories as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
Our current residential destination is Sayers Croft Outdoor Learning Centre, a stunning residential site located at the foot of the Surrey Hills. Set within 56 acres of woodland, meadows, ponds and streams, the centre offers a unique environment where children can learn, explore and connect with nature.
During their stay, pupils take part in a wide range of adventurous and team-building activities designed to develop confidence, resilience and cooperation. Activities may include wall climbing, caving, rope courses, woodland exploration, problem-solving challenges and environmental learning experiences. Children are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, support one another and celebrate their achievements along the way.
The residential trip plays an important role in developing key life skills, including:
- Independence and responsibility
- Teamwork and cooperation
- Confidence and resilience
- Communication and leadership skills
- Respect for the natural environment
For many children, the Year 6 residential is a memorable milestone in their primary school journey. It provides an invaluable opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, strengthen friendships and take part in experiences that inspire personal growth and a sense of adventure.
The Year 6 residential is often remembered as one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of primary school, leaving pupils with wonderful memories that last long after they leave us.
