Admissions Consultation

ST Andrew and St Francis CE Primary Admissions Consultation 2020/21

St Andrew and St Francis Primary is now consulting on its admissions policy for September 2020 intake. The consultation will run from 30 November 2018 to  11 January 2019.

Proposed Changes

The draft 2020/21 policy is available on the SASF school website here. Hard copies are also available on request from the school office (See contact details).

Details of the proposed changes, and the rationale behind them, are highlighted in the Proposal for Change document circulated with the draft policy and also available on the SASF school website.

When the school previously consulted on its admissions criteria in 2016/17 this was to improve the equality of the policy and to give priorities to siblings and provide an even split of Church and Community places. Since then the educational landscape has shifted and a current and or potential future challenge is the recruitment of well trained and high quality staff, whom we can help support with a positive work life balance. To aid in this the governors propose that we include in our admissions criteria that under section 4 of the policy to priorities staff children whom:

  • where the member of staff has been employed at the school for 2 or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made; and/or

  • the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

This will aid the school on rare occasion with the recruitment and retention of high quality staff.
